Day 2 of Money Pit

Well, the carpenters have been there 2 days and have accomplished a lot! Here are some images of the progress as of today.

From top to bottom:
My little bathroom mishap - I tried to remove the soap holder and knocked out some tile which cannot be repaired. So, the bathrooms that were waiting are now being done too. Probably a good mishap - they are in pretty bad shape!

The living room walls removed - they were plywood with no Sheetrock behind them. So, they were no more than 1/4 inch thick and back up to the bedrooms . . .

The same nook in the sunroom as photographed in the before pictures (where the little window into the kitchen was)

The fireplace with the bookshelves out and the brick hearth below the bookshelves gone

Standing in the living room looking into the kitchen

Looking into the kitchen from the living room.

The massive pile of kitchen and living room in our garage!

Tomorrow is framing and supporting the load bearing walls that are being removed. I don't know what happens after that, but I'm sure dad will point everyone in the right direction!

More as it happens!

Our Money Pit!!!

From left to right: these mirrors are everywhere - one in every room, 2 in the "master"
Our lovely "master" bedroom with nice windows!
Gorgeously green "master" bath (how appropriate that even my bathroom is "green")
Powder bath with tile on the walls and monkey mural

Fireplace with book shelves and tiny mantle

The paneled kitchen

Welcome home!

I am obviously terrible at keeping up with a blog - mainly because I don't feel like I have anything that interesting to say. But, now with this house we decided to buy I have a lot to say. So, I am going to attempt to keep the blog up to date with the progress we are making at the "new house" as sweet C likes to call it! I don't think I have a picture of the exterior, but that's probably good since this is the internet! Above are some pictures from the day we took possession - before we did a thing! We have a long road ahead of us, and hopefully we will like our house when it's all done - I keep reminding myself it's in a great location . . .

Great snack or side

Today is DAY 8 on the cleanse, 1 week down! This afternoon I was really tired and feeling sluggish. I had eaten plenty of fruit, but not too many veggies. So, I decided to make a quick veggie snack that sounded good. I cubed some butternut squash and cut some brussels sprouts in half and threw them in a covered casserole dish. I baked them on 400 for about 40 minutes. They came out tasting delicious. But, it wasn't quenching whatever the craving was that I was having. So, I separated out some of the squash and put it in a small bowl, added in some raisins and sprinkled with cinnamon. That hit the spot. It would even be a good breakfast!

Food!

We are on Day 3 of the cleanse and it is going really well! Tonight, I made "spaghetti" and it was delicious and SO easy! We could have had rice pasta, but that falls apart and gets mushy so I used spaghetti squash which is a great and healthy alternative! For the sauce, I used 1 tub of organic cherry tomatoes, 4 or 5 organic roma tomatoes, a handful of fresh organic basil, olive oil, and 12 cloves of crushed and peeled garlic, and salt and pepper to taste. Mix all of that together in a bowl and then spread on a cookie sheet and roast at 400 for 30-45 minutes, until they are carmelized. Put in a food processor and blend until it reaches the desired consistency. This makes about enough sauce for about 2 very large servings. It is so yummy!

As for Caroline and food, we are struggling! She was such a great eater until about 3 weeks ago when she decided to stop eating all the things she loved the day before. She will eat almost any fruit I put in front of her, but forget veggies, meat, etc. We think that she might be having a reaction to dairy and wheat, so we have completely taken her off of all those foods. One thing that she will always eat are the pureed fruits in soft containers that she can just suck it out like a straw. If anyone has any suggestions in regard to getting a precious but stubborn toddler to eat, please post a comment!

Grocery store time and SP cleanse time! For those who do not know what the SP Cleanse is, it is a complete body detox through the consumption of whole foods (fruits and veggies, primarily). I have done it once before, and am feeling the need to do it again! Alex is going to try it out this time as well which makes my life much easier because he can eat the same meal I make for myself. We have some good friends who are cleansing right now too and she posts really yummy recipes here. Alex and I are going to begin the cleanse on Monday - we'll keep you posted on how it is going!

A Blog . . . Finally!

We have been feeling a bit "out of touch" with our huge families and our friends, so we thought a blog would be a decent way to keep in touch! I will try to be better about updating our blog with what we are doing along with current pictures!

Miss Caroline is more and more fun each day and we are really enjoying every (well, most) minute of parenting. She did decide to wake up as soon as her daddy left this evening and was up until he got home (at 12:30 am). So, she and I had some fun mommy/daughter time - since we don't get any of that during the day!

I am off to bed, but will post pics soon!
